We highly suggest that you have previously made extensive use of the ARRAY command in AutoCAD before diving into this AutoCAD tip. Understanding the ARRAY command and its limits is crucial here.
We had a fast talk about creating an Array around an ellipse in the following posts
Now we intend to go step by step and show you how you can easily create images where you need to arrange objects in a pattern around an ellipse.
Array around ELLIPSE in AutoCAD
To be able to achieve such an image in AutoCAD, you will need to
Create the ellipse and the reference object
Divide the ellipse into 2
Use the Path Array to create the array around the arc and make sure to distribute items evenly along the length of the path.
Bring back the second part of the Ellipse
Use the down part to create a Path Array the same way we did in Step 3.
There is one of the elements of the array which got replicated twice. If you have chosen the same reference object we’ve chosen since the beginning of this post, the double element should be the one on the far right side of the image. Make sure to delete the unwanted copy of it.
This AutoCAD tip is helpful, but if the array needed only 3 elements, and required them to be placed evenly along the ellipse, this tip would be way harder to use following the above steps.
